Kolkata: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Kolkata, under the Ministry of External Affairs, will conduct a series of Passport Adalats in January 2026 to facilitate examination and processing of pending passport applications. The Passport Adalats will be held on January 6, 8, 13, 15, 20 and 29, 2026 at the premises of the Regional Passport Office, Kolkata.

Each Passport Adalat will cater to 800 applicants per day, with appointments distributed across five time the slots. The slots will operate from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with a lunch break between 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM. As per the schedule, 300 appointments will be accommodated in Slot 1, 200 appointments in Slot 2, and 100 appointments each in Slots 3, 4 and 5. To ensure smooth conduct of the Passport Adalat and efficient service delivery to a large number of applicants with limited resources, telephone enquiry and walk-in appointments will remain suspended on all Passport Adalat dates, namely January 6, 8, 13, 15, 20 and 29, 2026.

Applicants will be permitted to enter the office premises only 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time slot. Entry will not be allowed on any date or time slot other than the one allotted to the applicant. All applicants are required to carry the original appointment letter clearly mentioning “Passport Adalat”, bearing the walk-in entry stamp. Applicants must bring all required documents in original, along with one set of self-attested photocopies. Aadhaar card holders are advised to carry either the e-Aadhaar card or UIDAI-issued printed PVC Aadhaar card. In case of minor of the applicants, both parents are advised to be present along with their original identity documents and passports, if issued.

It has been clarified that the Passport Adalat provides a one-time opportunity for scrutiny and processing of pending passport applications, subject to the completeness and correctness of documents. Applicants who fail to avail this opportunity or are found with insufficient documentation may have their passport applications closed without further intimation. Applicants are therefore requested to avail this opportunity without fail and ensure compliance with all the instructions for timely and effective processing of their passport applications.
