Russian President Vladimir Putin may attend the BRICS summit scheduled to be held in India next month. On the second day of his visit to Moscow, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Putin at the Kremlin and invited him to visit Delhi. During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed enhancing nuclear cooperation and the International North-South Transport Corridor to facilitate trade routes between the nations. Additionally, Jaishankar conveyed a personal message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Putin.
The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a statement regarding the meeting between Jaishankar and Putin. It notes that during the meeting, Jaishankar said, “I am pleased to have held detailed discussions on our economic cooperation, trade, energy, fertilizers, nuclear matters, and other areas of the bilateral relationship.” Additionally, Jaishankar conveyed Prime Minister Modi’s interest in holding a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit with Putin. Acting as Modi’s envoy, the External Affairs Minister invited the Russian President to India during the BRICS summit.
